We have about a zillion photos of the project in Africa; everyone is just so very photogenic! Finally undertaking to archive them in a more organized way has brought us so many gems, so many reminders of just how fortunate we are to be participating in Life in this way.

In this photo from 2012, Regina (13 at the time) is holding her newborn daughter, Karen.

Regina dropped out of school when she became pregnant. It was a letting go for all of us, an opportunity to practice being okay with all that is, as it is.

What a thrilling moment it was 6 years later when Regina walked up the path to bring Karen as a candidate for the then pilot program to give scholarships to girls entering grade one. Today, Karen, now 10, is one of our grade 4 girls shining in her class at a private school in Ndola.  The teachers often tell Theresa how very impressed they are at the dedication and perseverance of our girls who have a good deal more to overcome than many of their classmates.

Karen is in the middle of the front row, holding a black backpack.

Thank you to all who have made it possible for Regina to offer to her daughter what she herself did not have as a young person. Each generation in Kantolomba, each year of Living Compassion, each year of your participation furthers what is possible for all.
