At least once a year a group of Living Compassion staff travels to Africa

At least once a year a group of Living Compassion staff travels to Africa to take the next steps in the Africa Vulnerable Children Project. It is always a life-changing experience.

Experiencing the African culture has transformed us. Even in the face of extremely difficult circumstances, the people we encounter have a joy and enthusiasm for life that is truly inspiring.

On these trips we celebrate the things that have been accomplished since our previous trip and hold meetings to put the next phase of the projects in place.

August 2009

Our list for this trip was long, as usual. Among the many projects: finding a reliable "media person" to send us pictures and stories about the project; launching a big new project for the sewing cooperative; taking the next step in microfinance; and finishing the building.

January 2009

The two large goals of this trip would be micro-finance business projects and updating our project media. Micro-finance is a critical next step toward the sustainable future of Kantolomba. We also had the opportunity to tour the homes of the women who had been recipients of roof loans.

September 2008

On this trip we checked in with the progress of roof installation as part of the roof loan program and looked at the next phase of construction on the buildings on the property. We met with all of the male employees of Living Compassion for a conversation about the challenges and opportunities available to them.
