The weekend
Saturday, everyone came to the Living Compassion compound "just in case there was something we needed to do," but mostly so we could all have lunch together. No children, no dispensing water, no busy-ness of daily life, just a chance to have some time together as a whole group: Living Compassion Zambia, and these current representatives of Living Compassion Around the World who have the great good fortune to be here in Kantolomba at this time.
A fabulous group shot of the women and many of the newest babies.
We harbored some hope that we could move ahead on our clothes pin bag project but, alas, the machines were acting up, seeming not to like their new motors. We put in a call to Friday, who agreed to meet us Monday morning to do some diagnostics.
Looking at the sewing machines.
Then to lunch, and since the babies were with Moms, they quickly became the focus of everyone's attention as well as everyone's camera.
Baby Cheri.
One of our favorite faces from the day!
An ingenious hat made from leaves.
Sunday, we took a trip to a nearby game park with Eunice, family, and friends. Among other fun moments, we learned that Muyunda grew up in Livingstone and knows his way around a boat. He got us close up and personal with a giraffe family. A very restful day for everyone except Eunice who cooked non-stop for two days, creating one of the most impressive vegetarian feasts we've ever seen.

Inside the great chalet Eunice and gang rented.

The feast Eunice created waiting to be served.
Ready for lunch.
After lunch some went boating.

Some goats greeted us as the game ride began.
Sable. Amazing animals!
Giraffe was the major sighting of the day.
After the game ride, we went to see the main lodge.
Stopped for a quick refreshment.
A neat shot by one of our talented photographers.
And the goats bid us farewell as we left the park.
