2016 BRIDGE WALK REPORT FROM KANTOLOMBA

Preparation for the Big Day: Each day is exciting here at the property as the day for the Bridge Walk approaches. There is talk about it, the children are reciting poems, and the women are busy getting ready what they will cook for the children.

Drums of all sorts and sizes are being used to make music in preparation for the Bridge Walk this year. The students are using containers, old pots, and pans.

The Bridge Walk is just around the corner and all sorts of fun programs are taking place, as can be seen by little Hector busy with his drum.

Paul shows off his growing teeth. He is so happy! He is no longer camera shy and smiles with delight at all the preparations.

Many of the team have shared their stories looking back at the transformation over the years. Older Foster sits in the shade as she tells her story when I interviewed her. Here is what she told me: "I was one of the first members of the team here in Kantolomba. I have grown with the team and the students. I have watched the first 25 students grow into fine boys and girls. A very good example is my grandchild Natasha who was in the first 100. She is still in school doing Grade 9. I am proud of her, and I know she is going to finish school."

The day before the big celebration we went out into the larger community to offer our service.

Peter and Elias busy doing charity work for the community of Kantolomba.

This is the banner we made here that we are going to use for the Bridge Walk.

The big day!!! We had a very wonderful time with all the team members and the children. A special gift was brought into the world on the day of the Bridge Walk--a baby girl was born in the early hours of Saturday the 15th of October 2016. The baby is Charity’s, one of the new members of staff. We are sorry we don’t have a photo yet for you but please enjoy these photos.
