Abraham, a student at Government School and a Living Compassion member. He was very sick when we first met him in the community when we went around recruiting the 200 new students. Now he looks much better after being in the program for only a few months, which shows that he is on the road to recovery.

Christine, who was a student here at Living Compassion in Joy's class, is now all grown and a Grade One student at Government School. She has a little brother Jack who is in baby class here.

Jack and his friend sit outside waiting for their parents to pick them up after school and lunch.

Little Jen poses for a photo. She is now in Grade Two.

Our next-in-line accountant Veronica going through some Kwacha at the property.

Posing for a lovely photo is little Sandra, a Grade Four student at Government School.

A seesaw? No, this is a fallen wooden part of the old fence to be replaced here at the property. The children find fun in sitting on it and pretending that they are on a bus.

Christine with her grandchild, Rachel's daughter. Yes, our very own Rachel Maplulanga is now a mother and lives with her grandmother here in Kantolomba. Last time Jen visited, the baby was only three months old.

Government School students having lunch in the dining hall here at the property after doing their tests.

Lining up waiting for their turn to get lunch.

The twins Martha and Imelda enjoy their lunch after extra lessons with Joy.

Break time here at Living Compassion is full of fun as the students sing and dance to the Genki songs that they had been learning in class.

Brenda and some of the staff members try out knitting in their spare time at the property.

Remember naughty Bruce? Here he and his friend chat during lunch at the property.

Enjoying lunch at the property. The girls in Charles' class show off their rice and egg dish.

Muleba, a student in Veronica's class, is looking forward to going to Grade One next year. She is now nine years old. She is very good when it comes to singing in class and is the leader. Her ambition is to become a gospel artist when she finishes school.

The boys, too, enjoy dancing to the Genki songs, and they do it in style.

Angela busy knitting.

Edward and Bright in class. These two are top students in Charles' class. They are good friends both in class and at home.

Irene balancing her lunch box on her head, a very common thing among even little girls here in Kantolomba.

Vanessa Banda used to go to a private school in nearby Lubuto. Three months ago her father deserted the family. The family has been struggling to make ends meet, and Vanessa was sent away from school because of school fees. Her mother brought her to Living Compassion and as a family we have welcomed her. She is in Joy's class again. You can see from the photo she is very happy to be with us!

Done in style, Margret busy stirring the huge pot of nshima outside the kitchen at the property here at Living Compassion. Another way of exercising!

Enjoying nshima with veggies.

Happy faces of Kantolomba. One can never miss them and it shows that they are happy.

Having a drink of water after a scrumptious meal at the property.

Isaac, a student in Joy's class, is four years old and lives with Mum and older brother Bright, who is also a student in Charles' class. The two brothers, whose mum goes out each morning to do odd jobs around Lubuto (a neighboring township) to make ends meet, don't have to worry about lunch anymore for the boys, as the Living Compassion family is there to take care of their food and school needs. The very happy Mum says thank you for the program and that her sons look very healthy.

Mustafa, a student in Susan's class, smiles for the camera.

Ronika poses for a photo outside the dining hall.

The teachers bask in the sun at break time here at the property.

Elias and his brother pose for a photo after extra lessons at the property.

Jowen showing off what the cooking staff had prepared for the students at the property. It just shows how they put so much love into the cooking. Every now and then when they are busy in the kitchen one hears them singing, which shows that they just love volunteering at Living Compassion.

Audria cleaning one of the huge pots.

Maureen and Pauline pose for a photo. They cook for the students, as is evident by the uniforms they're wearing.

Maureen, Brenda's daughter, in class. She was turned away from school because of school fees. Luckily here at Living Compassion we have a revolving fund which members of the team can apply for. Maureen is back in school after Mum paid her fees.

Ruth having lunch.

Students in class at Government school. Only a handful of them had their fees paid.

Sydney and his friends enjoy their lunch.

June 25, 2015

Fatimah, a student in Joy's class, taking her meal. She and her three siblings were picked when we were going round the community. Fatimah and her mother are from Zambia but lived in the Congo for years. The father, who was Congolese and the breadwinner, passed on and they came to live in Kantolomba with relatives. Right now the mother goes around the surrounding area looking for odd jobs to make ends meet. At least the little ones have a meal here at Living Compassion that keeps them going before mum returns from her job hunting.

Little Miriam poses for the camera. She is five years old and is a student in Joy's class. Is she not so cute? She loves teacher Joy very much.

Lunch time at the property. Here Leonard enjoys his meal with his friends in class.

The students enjoying themselves singing at the property.

At the washing area, some of the Living Compassion students wash their hands after eating.

They say water is life, and we all need the commodity. Here little Alex enjoys a cup of the clean drinking water from the Living Compassion well.
